Pictures My young show cob - plucked up courage to post pic

Aww thank you all! I bought him unseen from a video after I lost my wonderful LW show cob just over 2 years ago.
The first photo was at his 3rd show (all In hand as he’s not ready for ridden yet)
Then we went to Equifest -baptism of fire!

Thank you! I am having a crisis of confidence....I am very self conscious about my weight and very conscious that I do him no damage and do him justice.
I'd like to try the Search 4 a Star but I don't know if I can put myself through it as I know the ringside judges will be trying to tear me apart. The showing world can be so cruel and personal.
I have been very ill (twice) in the past 18 months and desperately need to lose weight but (excuses excuses) the stress of the ongoing health stuff isn't helping.
I think he is good enough but if I can't ride him well enough I'm torn about having him produced as I really feel he has got "it".
It will break my heart to send him away but I feel like my old cob was also good enough but I held him back.
I probably need a few slaps tbh :(

I did send my best HW show cob to 'boarding school' , with a top producer . Never regretted it - yes it costs ££££, but to see your own horse at HOYS is unforgettable and worth every penny. I have never found another , despite several false starts...... I the pro yard is a good one , he ll soon settle and you ll miss him more than he ll miss you!
A pro will also be able tell you if he is good enough [ its the quality of movement that sorts out the best , rather than just conformation]

It depends what you want to get out of having a horse, he will not care if he is "held back" or never gets to HOYS, if you are enjoying owning, caring for him, can stay fit enough to do what you want with him then keep him at home and have fun doing what is within your capabilities, no reason that cannot include some lessons or even a week or two at a good producers with him being helped to achieve more, if you want to be an owner then you could send him away but do for yourself not for him, he has no aspirations and looks more than happy as he is.

As for ringside judges, forget them, the worst will pull everyone apart but they move on and will not be taking your horse home at the end of the day.

@cornbrodolly Could you please PM me which producer you were with? Heard so many horror stories that I would use one from personal recommendation only
Thank you
PS I can't figure out the quote function, sorry :(
