Hiya

Just wanted to know peoples opinions really. A friend has just put her horse in one and the difference is amazing the horse is so much happier. Was thinking of trying one for my boy, what are your experiences with them?

I've got mine in a myler comfort snaffle & he's sooo much happier in it. I'm also jumping in a myler combination with the same mouth piece as after a long search, it's the only stronger bit that he will tolerate. (He's a bit of a madam.)

Would try getting one from a bit bank first as they are on the ££££ side.

Got mine in a comfort snaffle for normal riding and myler combo for hacking in company. Love them and they really suite my girls mouth confo, that said no all horse's love them and it might be worth borrowing one or trying a bit bank first as they are quite pricey.

I've got a myler comfort snaffle and really like it. I wouldn't go back to standard bits after using it. Agree with the bit bank comment from catembi though - if you fork out for one and don't get on with it you won't be happy!

I have a selection as I find the slimmer mouthpiece really suits the Highland ponies, we just swap and change for different disciplines. I wouldn't use anything else unless I had a horse that really couldn't get on with it (I haven't found one yet)

My instructor at the time had one that I borrowed so I just bought the same one. I went on their website & there's 1,000s of different mouthpieces, cheeks etc & I'd have been totally

if I'd tried to pick one myself.

Sorry, no help at all.

But the person at the bitbank would prob be able to talk you thru the options. Or does your dentist do a bitting service? Pretty sure mine does, so it might be worth asking yours. Or ask their opinion on which bit to narrow it down as they are familiar with your horse's mouth conformation?

google myler bits as there are a number of bit banks that will give you advice on what bits to choose. you then have it for 21 days, if you dont like it you can send it back.

I brought one last week and already seeing a difference in my horse. its not a miracle cure but its little changes and you can see hes so much happier in his mouth

I just got a Myler combination with a comfort snaffle on monday and have had a lesson in it and ridden in it since, my TB can be a bit of a madam and threw hissy fits when ridden in a strong bit and didn't like the traditional nut cracker action of a normal snaffle. So far i think he likes it, his flat work has definatly been really good and he dosen't lean on me at all and has only had one hissy fit when jumping, which i think he's got into a habit of doing!! His jumping is still something to be left desired for but i'm going xc in it tomorrow so will have to see how we progress in it, but he used to refuse to open his mouth when i went to but the bit in and since using the Myler he's opened his mouth quite freely

I love my myler combo - after fighting for control against what feels like a steam train, I was (and still am) amazed that spooks can go so lightly and consideratly.

I barely need to touch the reins on an fast ride - love it and think it is a godsend!!

I love them, well my boy loves them. He is like a different horse when he is ridden in a Myler. I really do think they fit his tongue better. As with a lot of others on here, he is in a Myler comfort snaffle for every day things and a Myler combination for his jumping but still with the same mouthpiece. I got mine from Gills bit bank? Are they around anymore???? but I was lucky to borrow one first as they are a lot of money but worth every penny if it makes a difference.

I've borrowed a triple barrell short combi for a friend's tank pony, and it works a treat. She loathes her kimblewick and I think the way the Myler combi spreads the pressure really suits her. Plus the mouthpiece is impossible for her to grab hold of unless I pull too and it locks into a straight bar so no tanking unless I truly deserve it for pulling on her

As with any other bit though, it depends entirely on the individual horse as to whether they will like it and work well in it or not. No such thing as a "miracle bit" IMO.

Somebody surgested i used a myler on my horse, so i bought the comfort snaffle and she did not like it. A few months later somebody else told me to try a myler again as there are different mouth pieces.

I now have her in a snaffle with a high port mouth piece (which relives tongue pressure) for very day use and a pelham with the same moth piece for competitions. She loves this bit and goes so well in both.

Best to talk to the myler people about your horse and they will be able to suggest the best bit for you.
