did try it on one horse when he was about 3, and a friend used it on her older but green horse who needed to tuck her nose in but not really something I've used long term. Fairly expensive for the odd use, but can be a useful bit of kit.

I have used it for 18 months and it is brilliant. It stopped him evading the bit above or below. Its only drawback is that whilst it has a lot of stop, it is not so good for steering.

I love mine, got the low port comfort snaffle mouth piece & short shanks, my pony is built on her forehand & this seems to stop her leaning & helps her stay more up in front, she can be quite naughty & it means she can't run off!! Long term I'd love to be able to jump her in a snaffle, but at the moment this is my current favourite, much nicer than hauling on her head in a waterford.

Actually these bits are great for youngsters as they work on the poll, nose and mouth in equal proportions and not just the mouth. I always used to think that they were instruments of torture looking at them, until I looked into them more, spoke to people who used them etc and now believe them to be great bits.
I have ridden one of my horses in a short shank low port comfort snaffle one, and find him easy to control out hacking with absolutely minimal contact.

Depends on the horse really, as with most things.
My horse went beatifully and light in it when schooling but would not jump in it as I had too much control for his liking !
