Hi, my horse is a 5.75 on his normal bit and am looking into purchasing a Myler comfort snaffle (loose ring). They only come in a 5.5 or a 6.....do they come up true to sixe or large/small? Which one should I go for? Thanks in advance!

I think they come up large, my girl has a 4" pony comfort snaffle in and she normally takes a 4.25 to 4.5". It fits perfect plus it was cheap as it was ap ony size (VAT free?!

It would be worth your while having a look at the Best for bits website, they have a very good explanation of how to measure for a myler, they are measured on the horses mouth size, not the bit size, if that makes sense. I have just bought my mare a myler pelham (already have a comfort snaffle, which we both like, just need better breaks in some situations

) They are both 5", as that is her mouth size, her previouse bits have been 5 1/2" as that was the bits size.

I'd go for the 5 1/2. My horse was in a 5 3/4 Neue Schule loose ring, and he now has a 5 1/2 Myler hanging cheek, the 5 1/2 is plenty big enough. He goes beautifully in it, so in my opinion it was worth the expense!

Sorry for the delay, also sorry as useless at links, but if you put myler bits in your search box it will come up pretty high on the list:) I find both of my myler bits very good, sister tried a comfort snaffle on her ID though and found it no good for her, if you go to best for bits, you can loan for upto 3 weeks before you decide to keep it.
