Ok. So have been given 2 bits to try on my boy who can be a tad fussy in his mouth and strong jumping. Reasonable flatwork.
They are: myler comfort snaffle and the same sort of thing with like gaps at the top and bottom?
Anyone used these?

Yep used both, The one with slots gives a small amount of poll pressure, and a more direct action. The other one is dressage legal. I really like them, horses seem to like them. I just cant use the comfort snaffle on its own, as my boy doesnt go as consistantly in it for flat work, gets a bit strong!but i used it when he was first backed, and he loved it. Use the one with slots for fast work.

I used the comfort snaffle on a very soft mouthed horse as it is very gentle in action (if it is the one I am thinking of) it is ported with a roller and has two joints so less of a nutcracker effect.

Right, that's a Myler CS and a CS with hooks. Personally wouldn't use them for something that's strong jumping, yet anyway. I would give them a go on the flat first and see how you get on.

Mine goes in a Myler CS and loves it. When I first bought it I couldnt do anything but school/dressage in it. I can now do 95% of things in it (SJed on a surface at the weekend but not enough steering for on grass) but I wouldn't go straight into jumping it themn. They work very differently to other bits and CSs are v mild. Nice for horses who don't get on with conventional snaffles though.

oh no.;. not going straight into jumping! (not sure where this was implied....)
Will give em a try and let all know how I get on!

Use this with both my natives, one of which has been hunting in hers..the brakes go slightly at this stage, but up until this point the bit was doing everything for us.

I use the plan snaffle on my mare that was so fussy in her mouth and she is a lot more consistent in it now. Though brakes can fail when she gets strong and keen jumping or on fast rides

i love mylers, my one with the 'hooks' has worked wonders on both speedy pony and not-so-speedy cob, beautiful outlines, great acceptance - love em
