Mysterious girth galls.

Over the last couple of weeks my girl has started to get girth sores, and had a particularly nasty rub last night (of which I have treated and will not ride until it is cleared). This is a mystery to me as nothing that I can think of has changed in any way. It is only occurring on her nearside and doesn't cause any swelling, but rubs off the hair and makes the skin sore. Her saddle and girth are the same. The girth is kept clean and supple as normal. Her girth area is kept clean as normal. The only thing I can think that has changed is that she is growing a nice winter coat - I can't imagine that more hair is creating friction. Any ideas - what have I missed? She has never had girth galls or sores before.
 
I reckon it could be her thick coat. My dressage girth straps seem to be 'diggin' in a bit so Im keeping my eye on it. Nothing has changed for me either apart from his coat growing and him sweating much more.
I will be clipping shortly.
 
Thanks Louby, I guess it could be. Funny enough its the girth on her dressage saddle (which I use all the time, unless jumping). I rushed out and bought a new girth just in case - its a wintec chaffless pro. Couldn't find a girth sleeve at the saddlers, so that was my second option. Of course I could just get my ar5s in to gear and clip - see if that makes a difference.
 
definitely clip asap. it really helps mine, he is particularly prone to them when changing his coat but clipping really helps which is why I have just done 2nd clip of the year already

I find sudocrem very goon on rubs. and find its best to leave them for 7 days ish before riding.

Girths I use if your interested is a thorgood with elastic both ends on my dressage and an aerborn version of this with elastic both ends on my GP
