Mysterious lump

Good evening everyone,
I am hoping for some advice and opinions on my tb mare. Back in October, one morning after being in her stable, I noticed she had developed what looked like two separate lumps on her girth area, which didn’t feel particularly hard or soft. I contacted my vet asap as she looked visibly uncomfortable with it and sent my vet pics and video of the lump. The vet thought it was some sort of impact trauma and maybe she knocked herself or laid on a nest whilst out in the field the previous day. She didn’t seem too concerned and said to contact if it gets worse or doesn’t go away in a week. Okay, a bit of a strange place I thought, but I followed my vets advice as when turned out the same morning she seemed to settle down and wasn’t bothered by it. The lump did slowly start to reduce in size and eventually appeared to go away, or so I thought. Fast forward to this week and I notice the lump reappearing. She has been rugged and has a thick winter coat so I cannot say with much accuracy when the lump represented itself. However, tonight my horses have been running around in the field so all come in caked in mud. I notice the lump is definitely back but slightly smaller in size than last time this happened. She doesn’t seem uncomfortable with it unless i touch it. I have my vet coming in the morning to see her but I am curious to know if anybody else has seen anything like this and can tell me what it is? I have sent my vet the same photo as attached along with a video but all she said was she agrees she should come out in the morning, she did not give me an idea of what it could be. I have not dealt with anything like this before and I am stumped. Any opinions are greatly received. It should be noted that belle has been treated for ulcers in the past but the vets could not really determine a cause for the ulcers. She has since come off treatment and lives ulcer friendly lifestyle/feed.
Thank you and Merry Christmas ?

Is the horse being ridden, it could be from a tight girth.

I have seen this before, especially with an elastic girth, especially if the elastic is very elastic (as in soft as opposed to firm).

morning, she is not in ridden work so I don’t think it could be anything like that. She’s not worn a girth in over a year

Obv could be a load of things so hopefully vet will know. With my friend’s horse, they thought it was something to do with kidney function.

How old is she? It looks like ventral oedema and can be a sign of bad lymphatic drainage. If she is old I would want a vet call. I hope for you both that it's nothing.

I'd wait till New Year then I think, if it stays the same or gets smaller. ETA I see the vet is on the way, and that's never going to be a bad thing.

Okay so the bet has been and she thinks it could be one of two things:
First is that she could be laid down with her legs tucked up under her which could be causing bruising or swelling.
second is that there is a lack of protein in her blood which is causing the pooling effect, poor drainage and ventral oedema like you said Ycbm. So we have taken bloods and I will wait to hear back.
belle has never been a particularly well horse and I feel we just have problem after problem with her. So I know this maybe sounds odd but I am actually hoping something comes back on the bloods that’s gives us a clue as to what’s going on with the poor girl. It would be a Christmas miracle to finally get some answers for her! To top it all off I have just got home to a leak from my boiler, water all over my boiler room and no heating, more expense!
have a fab day everyone and thanks for your responses.
