One of our dobes has been oddly lame since yesterday; for a while he'll be hopping lame carrying his (hind) leg in the air, and then he'll be running around absolutely fine... and a while later he'll be hopping lame again.
I can't find a thing wrong with his foot or leg; no cuts or visible signs and he doesn't mind it being manipulated (being quite an accident-prone dog though, he's quite stoical and used to being patched up)
Ideas anyone?

Try pressing his toe joints systematically and see if at any point he withdraws his foot. Often the cause is a 'knocked up toe' which means the ligament can be over stretched. Dog is hopping lame then warms into it but after rest will be lame again. If so rest and anti inflams from the vet usually see you right. If not a trip to the vets I am afraid!

That makes alot of sense since he goes lame when he's been indoors for a while. Will check his toes. Thanks
