Had a horrible lump/tumour/possible sarcoid removed from my horse's tummy before Christmas, vets are phoning me with the results before 5 today and I'm v nervous waiting!

Vet took the whole thing off, was about a golf ball sized smoothish white thing once he got the skin off, then put Liverpool cream on the hole incase it was a sarcoid.
It seems to be maybe growing back though, thought it was just a scab at first but it looks bigger again today and its bleeding. Very worried!

Vibes please! Will post results when they ring.

ETA here is the original post. Just had a bit of a giggle reading through it!

As a bit of an update to the previous thread -

Got vet out the next week. It began to bleed and grew very quickly. Vet thought it was possibly an infected bite (I didn't agree) and gave him anti-inflammatories and antibiotics.
They didnt make any difference, it continued to grow rapidly and bleed intermittently, so after finishing antibiotics vet came back and managed to remove it by blunt dissection. Left quite a hole in his belly, which vet covered with Liverpool cream and sent lump away.

And here we are today! :)

My Sec D had a sarcoid removed a few years back - sounds similar size. He needed two lots of Liverpool cream treatment (5 applications on both occasions) before we got rid of it. It did appear back quite quickly after the first treatment.

Hope its good news whatever it turns out to be.

Yes, heard back! Finally!

It WAS a sarcoid, but quite a rare and aggressive type. However, they think that they've got it all as it was totally encapsulated. Going to keep an eye on it. Vet said that the Liverpool cream will leave quite a big scab and to watch it over the next week when the scab falls off and see if anything is growing back, but he doesn't seem to think it will.

So fingers crossed - it's a cautiously good result!

:) :)

Well done for following your gut, getting the vet out and going ahead with removal. Nothing lucky about this, just good horsewomanship :)
