On Monday I brought my horse in and found she had a small swelling on the front of her off-side hind leg. Being quite a novice horse owner, I saught the advice of one of the most experienced horsewomen on the yard. She looked at it, and agreed with my original thoughts.
It's small and very localised, soft and was warm to touch though the difference between her two legs was only slight. My mare didn't mind us poking and prodding it at all and was perfectly sound trotting up. Knowing my mare to be rather clumsy in the field, we figured she's probably just kicked herself and after cold hosing I left it at that.
Kept an eye on it over the last few days and it did cool and go down. However the mare was kept in last night and when I went up this morning the swelling was very noticable with the filling her legs always get when she's in overnight. So it's definatly still there.
I'm thinking I should phone the vet tomorow morning to be on the safe side, but figured I could seek opinions here first.
Thanks in advance.
