Does anyone else find that their dogs won't eat myxy rabbits? I have noticed in the past that when my dogs have caught these poor creatures they don't seem so keen to devour them, and today Evie really confirmed to me that they must taste bad. She is a demon hunter, and if she catches a rabbit I usually have no chance of getting it from her, by the time I get near to her it has been swallowed. Today I was just crossing the yard with her and she shot off up the drive and a second later there was a rabbit type scream and she had a sad little body in her mouth. As it was nearly time to feed her I decided to leave her to it and give her a raw night.:p To my surprise she put the bunny down and came back to me looking a bit put out. I went to have a look and it had the tell tale myxy eyes, and she didn't even come up and sniff it, there was obviously something about it she really didn't fancy, would be interested to know if other dogs are as fussy.

My last 2 Lancashire Heelers were regular rabbit killers but neither of them would even bother to kill a Myxxy rabbit, Darcy & Diesel Dobes eat everything they catch but I havnt seen a Myxxy rabbit for years. I cant see the fact it has Myxxy putting them off though as they are very competitive with each other but I could be wrong about that.:)

Its strange isn't it, they obviously don't taste right. This was the first one I have seen round here for quite a while, whereas we are over run with the things and could do with numbers being reduced I hate to see them in this state.

When B was a little girl she found a Myxxy rabbit and begged me to save it, we had an old meat safe knocking about the farm and it made a good rabbit hutch. We kept that rabbit for about a week and it continued to eat up to the point it died, its a terrible disease.
