I am going to look at a filly (Nabab de Reve x Heartbreaker). I know Nabab has sired some fantastic horses, but I was wondering whether anyone had bred anything by him? If so, what are they like in terms of size and temperament?

She sounds lovely - but nothing set in stone yet. Just testing the waters.

Thank you Eothain. The filly is in Holland so that may well be.

I remember Chris Ellis had a Nabab horse: Nabab Forever, and he was a big boy. I don't know what the damline was there, I'm a bit cautious as I don't want her to grow into a dinosaur. The mother is quite petite though. I am going to see her next month - very excited!

You get Nabab semen from Tivoli in the the Netherlands frozen.

He was ranked 5th as sire at one time. He is obviously the sire the 2010 World Champion Vigo D'Arsouilles. I have a colt by a Vigo son.

Joris de Brabander in Belgium owns him they have a website. Nababs are honest horses, and have amazing jump. They move well but often have plain heads so don't look for a show piece lol!

He is one of the best older jumping stallions in the world. I will use him one day on a Pachat II mare- this cross has already resulted in the olympic horse Paradigm who was ridden by Mario deslauriers.

The nabab heart breaker cross has been done alot with much success.

I would buy one in a heart beat if I were looking.

Good luck

Edited to say he has had over 1000 foals- and they tend to be big. Which is probably good on a heartbreakers damline.

Superb cross.

Thank you very much Mellissa, that's exactly the sort of info I was after - I see what you mean about the pretty head! Not too fussed about what she looks like so much as how genuine. The aim would be for me to produce her up to 5yr old classes, and if she is good then maybe have someone ride her for me. Long term I'd love to breed from her.

All this is pie in the sky at the moment though, but fingers crossed!

Good luck and I would love to see pictures! That would be a super damline, but if you breed from her you must ask Joris de Brabander what he recommends. He bought Nabab as a young horse, and bred Vigo. He is very passionate about what he does. All the horses bred there have the De Muze suffix and no one knows that line better.

Nababs are straight forward enough for a good amateur, and really come into their own in the hands of the best. The UK has been a little slow on the uptake re this line.

Joris would be more than happy to talk to you and his English is very good.
