Hi all, got an 11.2 for my daughter sec a gelding. Really super pony very safe she does a bit of everything PC jumping hacking ect.

She also does quite a bit of showing and always does well in the ribbons qualified for some shows, but he just lacks a bit of humpf at shows. I really dont want to be pumping hard food into for 2 reasons no.1 he gets fat easily and no.2 its for my 7 year old so dont want to blow his brains.

I used one of these naf energ shots on saturday for a show and it did help to an extent.

Do i continue with these while i wait for her legs to grow a bit more;) or do i look into maybe the naf energ supplment or something like propell or recell.

Can people tell me the there experiences on these types of supplements or any other options.

Thankyou all:)

I am in a similar position but its my 14.2 connie, not so worried about him blowing his brains as such just dont want him geting fat. Would you mind letting me know how you get on with which ever one you choose? I was looking at the naf one mainly because its cheaper.

I rode a horse that had been on new bludd once and he just felt like he was loving life and would often break in to canter and could be a little bucky but he was often a little bucky any way so not sure how much it affected him as I hadnt ridden him before.

my first thoughts would be is she getting the right amount of vits and mins to maintain herself, norrmal fatties don't get hard feed, and just grass isn't really balanced well enough, most grazing is lacking in something, so would just check she's getting enough energy from her diet, if not i'd either look at a vit and min supplement (benevit is good and gives a really good lustre to the coat to boot!) or a field lick (though some fatties will gorge on the latter) if she's already having this, then you could just try a handful of oats? tiger oats are pretty good. I've found the iron supplements like redcell and propell to be really good but they really are like rocket fuel!! naf ener-g my mare would not eat for love nor money so can't compare it's effectiveness! (and my horse is a fatty, will normally eat anything!) I'm hesitant to try these with a 7 year old on board, but look at her overall diet first and make sure she's getting enough there, if she's sweating alot under saddle also make sure she has access to electro salts, lack of these can also make them feel a little lethargic. Oil is also a good source of energy so instead of oats you could look at offering some chaff with vegetable or soya or linseed oil?

Hiya thanks, but yes already feeding codlieven general purpose suppklement aswell as baileys outshine for the oil (help keep his coat in show condition) and while the outshine has helped engery to an extent not enough. He look very well so i think hes get all vit and mins.

I did think about a small amout of oats as always been a straight feed fan, but am been very wary of hard food as when i tried him on alfa oil it turned him into a foul mooded thing that just kept tring to buck her not into ridden energy.

He is not in the slightest bit a fussy eater at all, in fact i have pictures from the weekend of him stealing ham and cheese rolls out the cool bag at the show.:D
