I would describe myself as having previously been pretty sceptical about calmers but tried this as a last resort and I'm absolutely amazed by the result.

My mini shetland had pretty much zero handling until she was around 11 years old. She is scared of pretty much everyone and everything. Particularly vets and farriers.

Initially oral sedative seemed to work well when having her feet trimmed, but really doesn't do anything at all now. Even though she's small she could still injure someone if she panics, so before I resigned myself to IV sedation every time I thought I'd try NAF Magic.

I gave her some the night before and then gave more an hour or so before the appointment and I have to say I was absolutely blown away!

She stood really quietly and didn't get worried, stressed or panicky at all. Neither me nor trimmer could believe it!

I know it doesn't work as well for all horses but it's definitely worth a try if all other options have failed.
