Does anyone use NAF magic?
*Dulcie is quite sharp for an ID and quite stressy in day-to-day life. She is a real worrier and highly reactive, unlike other horses I've had who do assess before blowing their lids! It's not just when riding either, she can get very anxious and stressed in other situations too. For example today, she was very stressy whilst blacksmith was here simply because we tied her up somewhere she doesn't usually get tied up (trying to keep out of the rain!)
*
She isn't dangerous, has a lovely temperament and is fab to ride (very forward thinking). She is 6 yrs old.

My instructor said I might consider a calmer like NAF magic to see if it helps her to chill out generally and stop being so reactive?

Would love to hear from anyone who has tried it! Thanks guys :-)

I tried it (liquid) didn't make a difference. I thought it worked at first though, but I guess it was just me thinking that. Never used a calmer since but changed feed and changed to a quieter yard, which worked wonders!

I didnt find it did any good at all. Still got half a bottle in tack room if anyone wants it. Its not cheap either.

I tried it on my TB's and nothing different at all - I now use magnitude which you give less of and just put it in their feed and its made a big difference good for their feet growth and general well being so bonus all round and cheaper too - by the way this is a calmer its just got added benefits too! meant to put

I tried it and to be honest it didn't work for my mare.
I swapped to blue chip karma and she is a completely different Horse. Not a stress head anymore, very chilled out! Plus it's not as expensive

Naf magic works a treat on my horse, mine too is ID x , hypersensitive, and a real worrier, i use the liquid in his feed, stops him over reacting to life in general, and the instant paste for special occassions, ie- loading/shows , anything new , he is 7, keeps his cribbing down too!

Also Naf Magic works VERY well . Very happy with results.

I have always used the powder

However mine don't like the taste so when finished I am buying magnesium and seeing if it works as well.

Cut a long story short, 33 year old who thinks he's 3 has a tendon injury normally seen in younge race horses according to my vet ! On box rest since 28.04.12, can walk for 10 mins twice a day (BAD IDEA) :-(

Had to give sedalin just to walk him for 10 mins sat night, bought magic liquid started that mon morning, spoke to NAF who said liquid takes 3 - 5 days to kick in the powder longer, so I asked if I could give the syringes as well as liquid until it kicks in, so I have been, it seems to work, we did have a bit of a eek moment last night.

All I want is for him to manageable not dangerous to lead and to walk slow like my vet wants, I'll keep you informed, I might have to start taking it myself lol

The NAF Insta - calm syringe works a treat on our super sharp SJ. But NAF Magic didn't touch him. But a fellow livery swears by it. Horses for courses I guess (no pun intended!)

Hi

I have been using it for my 7 year old mare since I got her 7 months ago. Initially I was using it as she was very anxious and nervous and was going to be living out with me. It was more to help her settle. It seemed to work well. I took her off it after 3 months and she returned to her usual anxious, nervous, bolshy self. Back onto the magic and she is now riding well and a completely different animal.

It could be that she is settled into her routine now and is happier in herself, maybe once i try to wean her off it again, I will see if it works or not. Also, what works for one horse, may not work for another. Magic made no difference to my mum's mare and she is on the same yard....

I tried the powder in my hypersensitive cob no improvement at all what so ever actually very dissappointed to be honest gave it a good few months trial on a high dose and no changes at all , now back on the look out for another calmer to try x

Naf magic will only work if your horse is deficient in magnesium if they are not short in magnesium try a calmer with completely different ingredients like valerian and chamomile or vervain. Also buying magnesium on its own works out much cheaper than in branded supplements.
