Has anyone used this to aid weight gain without changing any other part of thier horses feed? Does it really work? Searched a few threads where this appears to be been added plus a change to a weight gaining mix as well. Has anyone just kept the feed the same and just added pink powder and their horse gained condition?

One of our horses has been on Pink Powder for a long time. It appears to help him maintain condition & he is actually more calm when he's on this. As with many suppliments it's probably better to actually try it out & see how it works with your horse because all of these powders & potions seem to affect different horses differently.

I just bought a 1.4kg container of it from Petsupermarket. They were definately the cheapest place. It cost me £21.07p delivered......much cheaper than anywhere else.(Just checked & it's gone up to £21.72p)

I tried it on my 23 year old mare last summer, mainly because she looked a bit dull proberly because she was on her summer rations has she is a very good doer even for her age. It certainly gave her back her sparkle, she obviously was lacking in something which the pink powder contained. I have continued to use it but recently put her onto pink powder senior and she looks great on it, she is only on a maintenance dose. I am not sure I will keep her on it during spring and autumn as she always looks and feels good during these times of the year due to have a bit of good green stuff. But will use it during her summer rations and winter when the grass is not as good.

I really rate Pink Powder exactly for these reasons - it's great for maintaining and gaining condition & for sensitive/stressy horses as I find it helps to calm and settle their digestive systems. You can add it to your current feed but it is also a vitamin & mineral supplement so is particularly useful if you aren't feeding the recommended levels of your hard feed. However many conditioning feeds already contain digestive enhancers so if you did decide to change to one then it'd save you buying two separate products - it's up to you which you prefer, really.

I feed the lower maintenance rate of PP to my TB and put it this way this winter has been my cheapest winter for feeding yet!
I don't know if its the PP or something else but my TB looks almost porky on a scoop of fibre nuts and a stuffed dengie bagful of hay a day plus grazing for 6hrs a day.

Yes I think it can def maintain weight; My 19yo IDxTB has struggled a bit in some past winters (even when we were still down south), looking a bit bony etc, prone to impaction colic and recurring low white cell counts.

This winter I have the opposite issue, he is on maintenance PP and is standing out rugless in the field in the sunshine as I write this even tho its only 3 degrees here (NE Scotland on top of a hill) and is as fat as butter and with a burnished shine to his coat. And a naughty look in his eye esp when hauling me out to the field....

He is in at night but is only fed 1kg Hifilite, 1 slice of lo cal haylage and a handful of H&P nuts with access to a little late cut hay and oat straw. No veteran this or that and no supplements other than the PP. He does have his teeth done every 6 months without fail tho.
