Nail in foot

Hi any tips for help aid the healing of nail in foot vet took out a nail in my mares foot and what should I watch out for she’s been put on equibactin and Bute with a poultice how often should I change the poultice never had to deal with this before so any help would be appreciated

I dealt with this last summer. Poulticed for about 3-4 days, changed poultice once a day. Vet probably advised poulticing for week but after 3 days there was absolutley no sign of abscess or infection around where the nail went in.

Thankyou also on lameness my mare is still very sore but is weight baring sightly more than she was how many days until they became sound

Did the vet x-ray before it was removed? I would keep a very close eye on the horse's lameness (harder with bute on board) but also her temperature as an infected pedal bone is a very real possible if it has punctured the hoof capsule

No I wasn’t there but yard manger/ vet assistant was there they’ve taken some bloods but no X-rays and I’ll check her temperature daily to keep an eye on her
