I have a problem seeing the nails in the photos, but the one close up of the hoof seem to have them a bit higher than i'd like. Is horse sound or feeling them tight?

I will elaborate a little. My horse once had this issue but the farrier said it was the road nails sticking out. Horse never had a problem but it never happened again so im not convinced. But there was a gap where the road nails were!

^^^same with our road nails-they have a rounded, small tungsten tip. That isn't a road nail. Get him back pronto and be peed off:(

Looks like he has used the wrong size nails, they should be flush with the groove in the shoe.

^^^^ Agree - were they brand new shoes or removes? Sometimes with removes you'll see some of the new nail heads below the foot but they wear level very fast.

If on new shoes they will wear off and the shoes will become lose quicker

Was the shoe a refit, not a new one?
It appears so,as the front (toe) appears worn, and this maybe why the nail apears slightly bigger. It shoud,IMHO,be fine and wear down into the shoe.
