So you lot have come up with excellent suggestions over the years. Now I’m picking those brains!
I have a share in a store horse who will be going into training in the New Year and so it is time to think about a name for him.
He is a bay gelding by Elusive Pimpernel and out of Music on D Waters. As an aside many of the same owners had a horse called Pisgah Pike, who is his half brother.
Over to you… 😊

Esox lucius is the Northern pike, can you do something with that? Unconnected but my chosen name for a racehorse should I ever own one would be Raskolnikov.

Music on D Waters, when said out loud, sounds Jamaican although it is probably a play on Irish pronunciation. You could have
We Be Jammin

Sea Wolf
Lad in Red (boom tish!😂)

But...

So, the mare's name is a nod to a poem by Byron (her sire) called Stanzas for Music which compares a woman's voice to ''Music on the waters'

Byron mentions fish in Don Juan. But there are lots of them. However what about 'Childe Harold'? There are lots of references to water and music in Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. Which is also about a disillusioned young nobleman. A brooding, alienated figure who provides a means for Byron to comment on war ... bear with me... which brings me to that Damned Elusive Pimpernel.

Just off the subject of names, our gelding is by Elusive Pimpernel, his temperament is phenomenal! he is the sweetest, kindest, most chill horse we have ever had, with a massive stride and one hell of a jump! (He was just a bit too chill for pointing) 🐎
