Well, no luck so far with rehoming her, and Dog Warden was only going to give her a week, former owner who dumped her doesn't want her back (lovely), so she was scheduled to be p.t.s. this Wednesday, so the rottie stray we found is now back with us, in a large pen & kennel we've made near the stables.
Soooo.... name suggestions please.
If I can find a super home for her she'll go, but if not, she'll stay... argh. I'm going to end up with fousands of 'em at this rate!

Oh actually, hang on one god darn cotton picking minute...I retract my name suggestions...no further suggestions will be made until photos are supplied! Thems the AAD rules! :p :D

I'm soo pleased her future is secured. I'd do exactly the same in your shoes,

as for names I like Angel for a rottie especially as she seems to have one looking after her right now :D

oh what a wonderful owner you are! well done you for taking her on! we need a pic really to name her properly!! lol. tyr and think of something that suits her circumstances..

what about 'salva' which is spanish for save/the saved one?? (sorry am also a south-american spanish speaker and love some of their words) you could call her 'sal' for short xx

Surely it's got to be Lottie the Rottie:D

:D

Or a German name but definately need a pic to be able to help :D

You got a new dog, you got a new dog, you got a new dog!! I give it 6 months before she is in the house and on the sofa cuddled up with the OH :D

Stoppit stoppit stoppit!
At this rate you're right, she'll be in and the two most annoying ones will be out!

At the moment Roxy is favourite... kinda like the idea of something beginning with R for a Rottie. (sooo predictable).
Something German, that's not a bad idea...

Yay she's staying! Good on you for giving her a chance, she's a very lucky girl :)

Roxy suits her, she's a lovely type. I'd def feel safe doing late night checks with her pootling round the yard with me! :D

My friends Rottie is named Bella and it seems to suit.

Or

Bonnie
Eva
Ada
Suki
Bessie

Erm not very good at this i'm afraid :D

ETA Or Lottie the Rottie :P ETA again, just noticed someone already said that! :P

Lol!! Welcome to my world!!!

I've tried some of the people we had listed as 'interested' in our male rottie we had for rehoming recently...as suspected all unsuitable!! I'll keep looking for you though.

I like girlie names for tough looking dogs..my staffie bitch is Gertrude (Gertie to her friends). I do like Gloria!!!:D

Have I missed some posts on this - how was the former located and what was the story, why was she dumped? Glad to hear she's landed on her feet - poor thing. No animal deserves to be discarded like that.

Our next door neighbour saw her running loose on NYD so we went out to try and catch her (not easy, she was terrified and rather... defensive, so it took a while. OH had to lead her home about a mile - couldn't get her in the car - on a rope loop threaded through a plastic pole, so she couldn't bite if she wanted to). Told Dog Warden. DW had had a phone call from a "Mr Lynn" on 01406 number (same as ours) who said she was his, called Ruby. Then the story changed and he said he'd found his dog, this wasn't her... DW was convinced he was lying.
I put an ad up about her in village Co-op, got a 'phone call from a lady claiming to be 'a friend of the former owner', who said the dog's name was Ruby, but that they didn't want her any more... :( :( :( So, same story basically. She's a sweet girl and didn't deserve that.

Her back end is much better now, I think she might well have been hit by a car before we found her... she was very weak and sore but is much improved.

bet he changed his tune, when told he would have to pay the fee for retrieving her.

so pleased she has a chance - particularly as you have a large dog, and one that wasn't particularly friendly when you found her. I also look forward to the pictures of her on the sofa in 6 months time! Someone was smiling on that girl..

I actually quite like Ruby. Have you tried it to see if she responds to it, or do you not want to keep that name?
Otherwise, nice German female names (imo) are Anya, Katya and Freya. Should be spelt with Js I think but then you get people used the hard J instead of Y sound. I had a bitch called Dunja, which I think is a pretty name with the y sound, but not so much with the j. :p

she doesn't respond to Ruby at all, i tried that immediately (would have kept it happily) but she's oblivious.
thanks for all the lovely suggestions. have someone coming tomorrow to look at her (friend of an HHOer) so fingers crossed, sounds like a lovely lady... if she goes i'll guarantee to have her back if she doesn't get on there.
just took her for a short walk with the lurcher, she isn't 100% behind still, she had a swollen back paw when we found her and was v sore and weak behind, now she's a lot better and paw looks fine (i think it might have been fluid from damage further up, succumbing to gravity, i've seen this before) but now she is sort-of swinging her hindlegs out a little instead of flexing at the hocks and pushing straight, if that makes sense? i wonder if it could be a hip dysplasia (sp?) problem, or whether she has an injury, maybe from when she was stray? advice pls, i know nothing about hip dysplasia. thankyou.

Well, what a surprise, you kept her (not) :D:D:D I like Lottie. Good luck with the lady tomorrow, although she seems to have landed on her feet poor dog. You mention hip displacia (sp) I wonder if this was the reason the owners abandoned her, there are so many horrible people around:( Let's hope it is as a result of an accident as this would probably be easier to deal with and not put off any prospective new owners. However, she looks very happy where she is now, perhaps we should see a pic. of your OH to see if he looks as happy:D:D

i would call her lucky .. she is very lucky to have found you. lucky lottie? though they very often name themselves in a few days due to their individual character!!
