I’ve spent the day creosoting my stables. We have recently tidied up the yard quite a lot. Broken bits fixed etc.
It’s due to be re-concreted which should make it about as smart as my little budget set up can get!
I’d quite like to get some stable door name plates.
I don’t like plastic or coloured ones, I don’t like ones with horses heads or any other motifs on.
The creosote we have used is very dark in colour.
So something simple and unobtrusive.
Not looking to spend a fortune.
Any suggestions?

Not quite to your brief, as they are plastic, but they don't look at all plastic. They are engraved and come with the wooden backing. They last forever - I have a collection of nameplates from former no longer with us horses, which all still look good.

They are cheap :).

I have the gold, with the 'no silhouette' option. This is above the top door.

That’s not at all what I was expecting when I said no plastic! That’s nice, and very reasonably priced. A definite contender! Thanks

I have the same in my yard, but on the brushed silver background.
One name is in white on a black background, one day I'll get them all matching.
Bit sad that 2 boxes only have the wooden plate on with no name plates on....

I do like the Chester and Cooke ones
https://chesterandcooke.co.uk/shop/...ble-door-name-plaques-create-your-own-design/

Our yard has blackboard style ones that YO does with a chalk pen. Really handy if you’ve got horses coming and going, or moving stables, as you can just erase the name with white spirit and write it again. No idea where she got them though.
I don’t have them coming and going, not to that extent but what a great idea. I’m going to pass that on to the people I work weekends for. That would be great for someone like me doing sole charge on a yard that’s ever changing. I came a bit unstuck recently when my phone broke and I had no clue who was who!

I have one like this, from an Etsy seller called BetterBasketCo.

The wooden plaques can be slipped in and out of the holders, in case of shifting horses between stables, or horses coming and going.

I also have a lovely slate one, but my power tools aren't up to actually attaching it to the stable door!

I got ours in the toy section of a Pound Shop . They even came with a free box of coloured chalks ! They look nice with the names painted on too ,
