Totally stumped on this one! Mr duck arrived earlier, Mrs duck has waited a long time for him! She's an apricot silver, he's white. i want 2 names that go together, but not too boring! any suggestions welcome, thankyou!
argh, since I already have a horse called Katy, and a horse called Daisy, those options are out... it's already confusing enough!
i'm quite liking Duncan and Daphne though...!
Um some ideas or any combination of...Donald and Daffy, Fred and Wilma, Ed the Duck and Daisy Duck, Big Bird and Tweety pie? .. suppose ducks don't really tweet though!
Minxie, i bought 2 girls ages ago as friends for 1 male i was given as a rescue, then the original owner turned up and reclaimed him, then my puppy killed 1 of the ones i'd bought (arrgggh, v naughty puppy won't ever do it again), so my lone ducky has waited all this time for me to find a breeder with 1 ready. fwiw the breeders are now selling off their spares and breeding pairs, they've selected the ones they want to keep for breeding and showing.
where are you in the country? this one came from North Lincs area...
at least girl ducky now won't have to try to make friends with the chickens any more!
clipcloppop, if you think i'm standing here yelling "boo bee" you've got another thing coming... not quite THAT mad yet!
Kerilli - do the dogs bother the ducks? I would *love* to get some (as everything in life right now, will have to wait until I've moved but wot the H!) but a bit worried that our assorted beasties will just go for them. Particularly the big cat, I worry about him. Do you find you have trouble?
clipcloppop, i won't help you ride your pony if you threaten to come here and yell BOOBY in my garden! so there!
kit, 4 of the dogs are as good as gold, with chickens and the ducks, but the newest pup, only a year old now, has taken some convincing, and unfortunately it took 1 dead duck (a call duck with markings like a mini-mallard, who the pup flushed out of a bush and then just grabbed) and 2 dead hens before she finally believed me that they are NOT on the menu. she doesn't even look at them now... in fact, the hens peck her to get her out of their way and she doesn't even turn to look at them...
so, it's possible, but it takes some work, and it has been a bit heartbreaking, i loved that duck!
I'm just south of Glasgow unfortunately or I'd be down to North Lincs in a shot
But that's a brilliant idea about breeders now selling off the ones they don't want to keep. I'll definitely have another phone around and see if anybody here is doing the same. Worth a shot for sure
Enjoy your new arrivals - what ever their names turn out to be
Minxie, i found a few breeders up your way, definitely worth a try, good luck... they're absolutely charming!
still can't decide on perfect names, sorry everyone!
i'm quite liking Dandy for the male, and Daphne for the female... do they sound as naff as hell?!
