A few of ours from my yard are hermitage court, diamond jubilee, rock dj,golden harvest, forester pipsqueak and gleiniant mistletoe what does the horse look like usually a good starting point - we have had a couple of mares called blonde bombshell(palomino) and miss attitude(chestnut)

oh thank you, i like them alot..well i have some chestnuts mostly and bays, some have 2 socks and some are solid, it doesnt have to relate to them. But thanks for those great names, any more are welcome:):)

i have a book of names for horses that i've kept since i was a kid! for mares, i like names that show they're a girl... ending in -a, or -elle or -ella, for example. some made-up words sound nice to me... for instance there's a character in a play i did at school called Flamineo, and i've always thought Flaminea would be nice for a mare.
here's a few from my book, help yourself!
Byzantia, On the Razzle, Downtown Venus, Good Time Girl, Adventuress, Ambrosia, Allspice, Courtesan, Gingersnap, Ginger Rogers, Honeytrap, Honeypot, Lady Marmelade, Marmalade Atkins, Paprika... i could go on and on!
i also like food names, names of Greek and Roman gods and goddesses, colours in names (such as The Orange ____), names that make me smile, clever names, etc etc.

Do you know the names of the sire/dam of your horses - often you can make a good name up by collaborating or adding to/editing their sire's/dam's name. For example i had a little welsh pony a long time ago whose dam was called Heaven scent. This pony was approximately this mare's seventh foal so she was given the farm's prefix plus "Seventh Heaven" if that makes sense? Just another idea of creating names

yeah that makes sense lol, well if it helps...her sire was called Dreams end, and her mothers sire was called 'salle du...something' cant remember lol, he was from america.:):)
all these names are really great, keep em coming hehe:)

You could pick a theme - Eg childrens story characters can be quite sweet Eg Beatrix Potter characters or old childrens TV shows.
