Right...I need your help finding a name! My rising 4 (july 2008 colt foal) otherwise known as Walty/Walter needs a competition name. He is by Brief Encounter (by Jumbo) and my mare Red Clover (Rock City x Stupid Cupid) obviously they both have rather lengthy pedigrees so I've put links below to both

the dam Red Clover can be found on racing post or pedigree query (as below for non members) you may have to search both links Rock City & Stupid Cupid

he is bred as a sports horse & is very striking Jumbo was TBx ID, his son(the sire) had a further cross of tb and his dam is full tb. He's bright bay with a harry potter black zig zig on his neck, three white socks & a white blaze. Walter means Warrior and he's very brave but gentle & seems unphased by anything, inquisitive,spirited but loves cuddles (big softie) likes the ladies but luckily just thinks everything wants to mother him (phew)

I've thought of Sir Walter (Ralleigh) DeWalty (the power tools-don't ask!) but there is a link between the sire & dam pedigrees in the names Brief Encounter and Stupid Cupid..making me think of love/affairs etc so then Valentino etc Ruben -something along these lines would be great for example his paternal half sister is called Kiss'N'tell. so Smart Affair i thought of... Zorro (the mark on his neck-tho this could be a love bite related name - Hicky..hickory dickory etc )

As you can tell my brain is now scrambled & beginning to hurt, so time to hand over to you lot on a horrid rainy afternoon! He's the young man in my signiature....much thanks,warming coco & biscuits for all who get this far & an Irish warming coffee for any names!xx
 
Excellent ideas coming...now I must ask...how many of you would report me for welfare issues if I do call him Big Red Knickers!Love it!:D

I like that, but then made me think of how to carefully apply poetic license to solicitor kind of brief..legal affair...then I thought of something like soliciting..now in danger of making him sound like a jigilo or a male escort not an innocent baby!can you see why I need help!!:D

I've always wanted to call a horse something that would really embarrass the commentater reading the name out as we entered the ring !
Can't say on here but you get the idea lol Xxxxxxxxxxxx
 
Excellent ideas, love cassanova...I'm seeing a problem now...we think up excellent names, change them enough to avoid being sued by random celebs....and then i need to quickly breed lots of foals just to use the names...You're all going to get me in trouble!!!

ok not read all your replies! And can I ask why it's only now that you need it, I had to register my foal before he was weaned from his dam, which meant registering his competition name???

Anyway ideas:

He was registered as Walter..I'd told his then name to the vet, but he wrote it down as Walter which is what he was on their books..my last foal was reg'd as Ceromere 2000 which was her mums name & year of birth (well done vet) so paid the extra when i'd decided on one and promptly lost her. RIP Diamonds are Forever.in theory its foolproof unless vet is a pedantic know it all who doesn't listen then refuses to correct! I've come across several tho that are dams name plus birth year or random number.thank you for names :)

....that would work, tho hope he will do better dressage with his breeding than a random camel...I woke my dog up giggling when i read this..would be worth it for the tannoy if nothing else!

I always said I was going to call one of mine 'The Winner' as that was probably going to be the only time I would hear the announcer say I was riding the winner :D
