Ok, so I am fed up with being let down and treated like a moronic imbecile by some of the equestrian companies. Why is it me who always gets taken for a ride? If you advertise something for sale, please supply it - don't debit my credit card and then pretend you have sent it when you haven't. Please return my phone calls, answer my emails and perhaps even offer an apology when you have made a mistake (but perhaps that is just asking too much).
Wouldn't it be good to be able to name and shame? Who else has been let down?

Me!!
Rang up to find out what had happened to my order only to find they had left it in a drawer! Apparently one of the products wasn't in stock. I said that's fine, I'm happy to wait for it to come in before you send the whole lot (they can't do it in 2 shipments apparently!) only to be told "oh no we can't do that, you just can't have the product" !!!
The woman was so rude, I'm never using them again - and it's a big well known company - oh I really want to say the name....!

Me Too!!!!
I have ordered a martingale in oak brown (3 in stock) to match my new bridle, paid for it, received an email to say they didnt have it in stock so I have to wait either 2 weeks or chose a different colour..... If I wanted a different colour I would have ordered it!!!......... Dont want to wait so requested my money back..... Have now heard nothing.... How can you advertise things an in stock when you dont have it.... RAH!!!!

I think I can guess who this is.
I recently ordered about ten things from a big well-known company. Two were out of stock so I said I would wait until they came back in stock. When they did, two other things had gone out of stock and they said I would have to wait ANOTHER month. I said I would rather put in an official complaint about their lack of customer service, and surprise, surprise, the whole lot arrived on my doorstep a week later.

I hope it's not DH - I have a coat on order (that I reeeally want and can't get anywhere else) from them :o.

On the flip side, I had fabulous customer service from Thomas Irving in Chesterfield over some faulty Filler Fillies country boots :D :D

xx

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one. This particular company have been soooo unhelpful. AND they debited my credit card weeks ago and I still haven't received anything - am now having to pursue the credit card company, what a pain. (not DH by the way)

I went to a clothing sale a week or so ago, and it was well known shops selling seconds but they could not tell us who shops where. So had come up with codes E.G Marks and Spencers was the shop you get your knickers from - you get the idea.

Maybe we should come up with a list of codes for all the well known horse suppliers

One well known shop also makes jam!!

Hate it when they advertise something knowing full well they don't have it in stock, but take your money anyway and then order it. Waited weeks and weeks for a wheelbarrow, listened to excuse after excuse til, finally tired of making 3 trips to the muck heap instead of one, I asked for my money back. Ordered direct from the supplier and it arrived 48 hours later.
Don't order from the Jam Shop anymore after several long waits for goods to arrive.

I dont see why we're not allowed to mention shops. I have always posted on here when I've had a particularly good experience, and I've also always posted when I've had an awful one. They've never been deleted...

HHO could get sued for defamation (or something along those lines) it could also be open to other shops signing up to cause a bit of mischief against their rivals!

Liking 'The Jam Shop' :D

xx

Oh the Jam shop ...
Bought a hat off them once. Correctly labelled box with the wrong sized hat inside, yay  Got a refund, but wasn't thrilled at having to fork out in shipping for their mistake.

They cant sue for defamation if someone sticks to a truthful description of the service the retailer has, or in this case has not, provided. The only issue is (i) whether all the posts are truthful and (ii) whether other retailers or people with a grudge join in, which is very difficult for the forum owner to judge (and if it did turn into a slanging against the retailer, the forum could be in trouble).

But a truthful statement from someone (who has given the retailer the chance to put things right and they havent done so), esp where money taken and no goods received, isnt slander or libel.

It also reminds me of a famous libel case where a newspaper was accused by a showbiz figure of libelling by writing that they were a disgusting repellent slob or something similar.

The newspaper won the case as the judge decided said celeb was indeed a disgusting repellent slob : the truth is a full defence to the charge!

I think you'll find they can sue, the point is whether the 'truthful description' is proven/provable in a court of law.

Incidentally, there has been at least one case of online libel where both the provider of a forum AND the user/author of the libel were held equally responsible and both faced the charge, a football forum if memory serves.
