I'm fairly certain that hitting your horse after it's finished SJ and then going back in the SJ warm up = elimination. But since there is almost never a proper steward at the SJ warm up at events, this wouldn't often be picked up on.
Henryhorn, the horse OT made that comment about used to be mine, and she is very good at looking absolutely knackered as soon as she's a little bit tired. I saw her afterwards and she was absolutely fine and looked very happy. Whilst I'm not convinced she was a "better horse" for it, she very definitely wasn't any worse. And if you'd watched her, you'd have seen she was jumping very well right to the finish.
