well, thats a 'tad harsh' as it seemed a lot here didnt.

i wasnt comparing nanny sarah to rileyboy anyway if you read my post properly, merely using him as an example as how plausible some posters who appear genuine can be and why some may be more sceptical than we were.

personally, im not doubting her, just reserving judgement and defending those that my wish to do the same.
My own worry is that she seems to be being taken advantage of by her employers slightly.

Agreed! I was just trying to point out that if people used their time to offer helpful advice rather than going on a troll hunt, OP could learn what she needs to learn and the pony will benefit immensely. :)

fair enough, but did you read the original thread Bourbons?

Nanny sarah as been inundated with good advice on there, on this one and has an inbox overflowing with good advice. - Most of it seems to have been ignored it appears.
On the original she made it clear she didnt feel she had enough experience to cope with this added responsibility and duty to her already long hours as the children's nanny and taking on the care of a pony. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, i suggested she suggest to her employers they either give her a pay rise of put the horse on full livery.

many people said the same - all ignored.

Now, im more than happy to believe her, but it irks me slightly when people post that they're hard done by or have a problem but seemingly ignore all the many and good advice to help that is offered.

anyway, i'm sure she'll be fine. If a little over worked !

I read most of it during my night shift last night at work (and then the internet died, booo!)

I fully appreciate what you are saying and I do agree with you about that, I just felt that some forum members were being a little bit unhelpful.

Anyway, off to finish reading the original thread!
 
I just read your first post and was shocked that your employers would put you through that. They do not seem to realise that looking after a pony is far more complex than looking after a guinea pig.

However, I think you've done a remarkable job considering, not everyone makes good choices when purchasing their first horse/pony and you should be congratulated.

I just hope nothing goes wrong with the pony and with your limited experience you do not notice. :(
 
If op posts asking a specific (or even general) question, then I would do my best to help. However the original question was 'help me buy a pony I'm clueless' & that's not something I can advise on with a clear conscience. I've seen it go wrong too many times. And anyone is welcome to think I'm not being helpful, that's possibly because in rl I've noticed the people who think unsupervised beginners are a fab idea, are rarely around when the pony is ill or injured, it usually falls to the so called unhelpful like me. Likewise when the kid has had its confidence destroyed, or worse still has a major accident.
Like I say, this thread isn't about 'help' its about congratulating the op. And I'm not a hypocrite who will suddenly think that's fab because ponies are cute. If op starts another thread asking for advice on a topic that's different, I would answer sensibly. And I know full well if (& I genuinely hope it doesn't) something has gone wrong, such as pony being crippled through laminitis, colic through a worm burden, minor pain gone unnoticed till pony is really suffering, it being massively overweight or underweight, pony doing something dangerous basic knowledge would have forseen, kids getting kicked etc, a lot of those saying how lovely it is now would be more than ready to say 'you should have learnt the basics first'.
