Napping - Supplements

It might definitely be worth a try or you could try a calmer. In either case, you would need to give your mare the supplement for at least a month before you decided it helped or didn't, so it might be an expensive experiment!

I am about to try the new Carl Hester calmer for mine, well as soon as he is better that is. He is a gelding though. Seems to have the most up to date ingredient at the moment and is fairly reasonable priced.

Mine naps due to anxiety and gets stressed.

Supplements won't help with napping as such but I found Oestress to be fantastic for mareish behaviour in general. Now have my girl on Agnus Castus which is great - she was very tarty, very stroppy, clingy, and generally a pain in the backside when she was coming to season, in season, and coming out of season. She's so much better on agnus castus now. Still tarty but she does at least concentrate when working and has stopped throwing massive tantrums constantly. The clinginess has stopped since putting her on it too.

I think she naps because when in stressful situations she just can't cope with being on her own, thats why i thought some kind of supplement may help her.

Mine is exactly the same. I tried the Topspec daily calmer with no significant improvement. When I go SJ (he can nap when leaving the warm up as everyone seems to congregate and he will not walk past) I use NAF tempralax with most definatly works with him. Once he is over his ilness I am going to try the Carl Hester one as we have a battle leaving the yard. I know it will not stop him doing it, but will hopefully relax him a bit and he wont be as stressed out.

Not sure about a calmer, but a huge pair of spurs generally helps with napping, so no flapping or beating, just a strong aid to tell them to get on with it.
