due to the weather i am having to ride my 3 1/2 yo in the indoor arena which is only 15m wide he is 17.2hh and his balance isnt great are there any constructive ridden exercises i can do with him where he wont tie his legs in a knot?

i think i'd be doing lateral work along the short side in walk, trot on down the long side, walk, lateral work along short side again. lots of transitions, getting the gentle half-halt through, lots of work in walk, bending, contrabending, turn on forehand and haunches. on a 15m circle in walk, halt, few steps turn on forehand, walk on, halt, repeat. lots of slow easy stuff. umm, leg yielding, shoulder fore, little bit of shoulder in maybe. i wouldn't do any canter work at all, it's too small for a big youngster and will strain his legs and joints a lot to have to turn that tightly.

Should not be a problem, although you are pretty limited to following the wall. A half 15 m circle at the ends should not be too tight, I guess there is not a lot of room to straighten on the long side

I bet there are plenty of owners of "hot" horses who would like a nice small school to help maintain control!
