Hello,

I have a 16 year old pony who was diagnosed with cushings last year. Recently he has been experiencing creamy yellow nasal discharge. Sometimes he coughs up some of it. I hoped this would be cleared up by soaking his hay but unfortunately not and his breathing now sounds slightly laboured when ridden. I'm now starting to think this could be some kind of infection, but he seems fine in himself. Vet is coming on Tuesday. I just wondered if anybody else had had this kind of experience, especially in a cushingoid horsie.

Thank you.

Is he on medication to control the cushings? As the excess steroid
hormones can mean affected horses struggle to fight off infection and may need a bit of veterinary help to do so.
