A couple of weeks ago my horse developed a cough and every morning I noticed she had nasal discharge outside her stable. I started soaking her hay and the cough went, however she is still producing discharge from her nose. Any ideas? She is out during the day and stabled at night. No other symptoms, breathing normal, no wheezing. She's on rubber matting and shavings.

I would think it will take a wee while for her system to clear if she has been bothered by dusty hay...keep an eye on it over the next week or so. Have you taken her temp to ensure she does not have a virus?
Also have a good sweep of your stable to get rid of cobwebs as they hold dust in them too!

what colour was the discharge if its white no need to worry
it could be a comman flu all horses get it its like a human cold and it can spread but dont worry i give mine just a spoon full of normal human cough mixture in morning and night feed
if this doesnt work just carry on soaking hay but also wash stable out and change bedding if stabled if this doesnt work then it could be an unlined problem then seek vet advice
