Nasal Discharge

Its normal mine dose it and i asked the vet after exercise i was worried too but if its clear andnot lumpy its all cool x

Could it be the hay? I am presuming he hs a dust allergy anyway with you soaking the hay. If the discharge becomes yellowish in colour he may have an infection and need antibiotics to clear it up. Can't he stay out at night?

My boy VERY occasionally has a white runny discharge from his nose. VERY occasionally. The last time was about 6 weeks ago. He is otherwise healthy, has always had this, is on aquimax/rubber matting and soaked hay. If you are worried, ask the vet - he won't need to see the horse most probably, as if you describe it then he may be able to alay your fears!

this could be down to a number of things most menshioned above but also they do get colds just like humans have you notice or reciently herd a cough from him ? some horses do not even show a cough so if you have tryed soaking hay etc just keep a eye on him and if it changes colour or he changes then consult your vet and with this weird weather its possible for him to catch a cold

if it is clear that should be fine if it goes lumpy yellow or green call vets. try offering your horse something with euco to clear his nose out!

Thank you all for your replies, his nose hasnt run so far this week while i have been there, so far so good. He doesnt go out on a night because he has sweetitch and seems to be better out during the day.
