Heart stopping goings on earlier today. One of the youngsters saw one of his friends being walked down the lane and tried to jump the fence and sumersaulted. I didn't see it happen but I heard the shouting. God, it was horrible not knowing what had happened and hearing someone scream 'he's broken his neck!' Thankfully he seemed to have just stunned himself and he got up again. Terrifying, he's such a lovely boy and we haven't had him long. Couldn't have had a nastier thing happen to such a nice horse. Thamkfully it seems he hasn't injured himself badly, just some cuts and bruises but time will tell. He was very shocked by the whole thing and so was his other young pal who saw him do it. I've got everything crossed for the poor boy. By all accounts he should make a full recovery but some healing vibes would be very much appreciated!

I hope (s)he is alright!

Lets hope it is a lesson learnt and puts her/him off from trying it again! Was your horse left on her/his own in the field?

If so, perhaps you could ask the other owner to let you know when they are taking your horses mate away so you can bring her/him in? (((healing vibes))) coming your way xx

poor lad, glad to hear he's okay. please, it's worth getting him checked over by a McTimoney Chiro or similar in a week or two, because he's probably not going to be very straight after that... my grey (in siggy) must have done something similar as a foal/youngster and ended up with an atlas/axis problem that couldn't be consistently rectified because she had been 'wrong' for so long (i bought her as a 6 year old and it was an ongoing problem all her life)

My boy did this when he was 2,he came over gate, feel and his neck doubled up under him i thought he had broke his neck but he got up and seemed fine, I rang vet and told them what happened and they said keep an eye on him. later that night he collapsed in his stable so vet came out and managed to get him up,after examination they said they thought it was just shock but over following weeks he started dropping weight so he went to leahurst and was found to have fractured femur and dislocated hip, poor man must have been in so much pain. They seemed quite shocked when i said i wanted to bring him home and give him a chance to heal as he was only a baby.12 months boxrest and he was getting better and better and now age 5 he is broken to ride and doing ok,still a chance of arthuritise(cant spell) starting over injury but will cross that bridge when it comes
