Nasty comments...is he too fat?

i also think he's stunning and def not too fat. he looks how he should look

being a cobby type myself

feel free to use this comeback if she ever mentions his weight again (not that he is fat, but this might shut her up)...........
'he might be fat, he can always diet........but you'll always be f***ing ugly'
laugh.gif

I think he looks absolutely perfect. He is identical height and weight wise to my cob, and my vet is fine with her weight, he just says she is a very deep, wide mare and not to worry!
At the moment she is in foal and I am really enjoying it when people call her fat because I can roll my eyes and tell them they obviously know nothing about horses as it is a baby belly! ps she is in foal to a coloured stallion and if the foal looks any thing like your beautiful boy I will be extremely happy!

All I can say is what a Stupid Cow this woman is and how dare she say that to you?! Shes wrong, and jelous or an idiot! Hes Lovley, a credit to you.

He looks lovely to me, a nice weight for his type. He probably does have Romany blood, but how romantic is that! A million times more thought wil have gone in to his romany breeding than most TB's and other blood horses... just because tey don't keep a stud book doesn't mean they don't care.

I think you've got him just perfect. His shouldes are not loaded and you can see the muscular definition. He is not designed to be a 'Racing Snake'.

And as for the Pikey Pony comment - The people who bred 'Pikey Ponies' were considered to be excellent judges of horse flesh!

Different people have different ideas about weight. At one show I was told that my mare was too fat and she was put at the bottom of the line. At the next show, the judge said that she needed to be carrying a LOT more condition...... what can you say?

He is neither fat nor ugly.

I can understand your being upset by this woman's comments, I would be too, why not try and quietly ask her to stop making these comments as they are upsetting you? If she continues then 'bop' her one
grin.gif
(joke!). Seriously, though, if she won't stop making these comments, point out that it is a good job we all like different types, for instance, you think her horse is 'plain', see what she thinks if the tables are turned.

He has absolutely beautiful markings - what a handsome boy.

I think in the first pic he is ever so slightly big on his neck and hindquarters but it is the middle of summer!

He looks perfect to me in the winter pic - he is big boned so she probably can't see that.

You must get some assertiveness and tell her to shut up next time she is nasty!!!

Your horse is honestly lovely but, in my opinion, even if he was a bit fugly or fat no-one should make such nasty comments unless you ask for an opinion or the horse's health is at risk!! xx

Some people can be so petty and this is one of them- He is as everyone has already said gorgeous and a good weight i would have thought, your post reminds me when i had my lovley coloured pony and some stupid woman commented that her TB ex-racer had never seen "such a thing and prob thought it was a cow" OMG I was livid then came "gosh do even coloured gypsy horses need passports?" AAAHHHHH

He looks gorgeous, ignore the nasty person.

I have a HW cob and a lot of people say he is fat because they mistake depth of girth, deep shoulder and big bum with fat. When I feel right behind his front legs I can feel his ribs (not too prominent, but not buried in fat either) which is a good test for any animal!

I think we must all be missing a major point. Maybe the horse is actually a thoroughbred underneath all that fat!!

I think it looks like you have done an excellent job managing his weight - just enough weight loss to have some slack to take up coming into spring, and if thats him at the peak of summer then he might be ever so slightly overweight but you should be very pleased that you have managed his weight so well. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how hard it is to keep weight off that type of horse.

I hope you do pluck up the courage to tell her next time that "actually I'd rather you didn't comment on him again as I'm not interested in hearing hurtful comments like that any more" and walk away from her. She sounds like she is being completely ignorant as to his breed and frame, and either totally unthinking or making deliberately upsetting comments to hurt you.

Some people feel the need to put others down to make them feel better about themselves, and if this is true of her try to just realise that its her baggage not yours to be upset over. Well done for being caring enough to come and ask for a second opinion, but don't take any notice of another word that comes out of this trout's mouth.

And by the way I'd have him on loan myself in a flash!

Lovely cob! Not at all fat, tell her to go to specsavers!! Ive got a cob and a TB i spend all winter trying to get the tb to fatten up like the cob and all summer trying to slim cob down like the TB lol He would fit nicely in with mine fancy sending him to Derbyshire?? lol oh well i can try eh?

Jealous old bat if you ask me. He's a very lovely looking boy, and is never going to look like a stick insect with that fabulous build. You've got him looking lovely and should be proud. Tell her that unless you specifically ask for her opinion button it.

I have changed my mind.
I think he is appallingly obese and you should not be allowed to keep him.
As luck would have it, I am just about to set up a rescue home with a vacancy for a 15hh coloured...so I will be arriving to rescue him tomorrow at 9am. Please have tack and rugs ready.

NOT AT ALL!

In fact my father, who is un horsey, said what an absolutely stunning horse.

There are some people in life who, no matter what they have, will always try to make themselves feel better by trying to degrade others. They get off on it- Adult bullying.

As a few have already said here, I would tell her to take a long walk off a short pier, but not is such nice words...

He is lovely. Taking into account the comments made about him, I too have " a pikey horse ". Oh well !!
smile.gif

Stupid girl. If someone spoke about my horse being 'fat' and a 'pikey' horse, or any other insulting remarks - I'd give her a good slap!

I think he's gorgeous. Especially love the 2nd photo. And no, doesn't look too fat to me.

He is really lovely, just ignore your so-called friend or perhaps suggest she needs to visit an opticians, a dieticians and then have a labotomy!

For what its worth someone the other day said Gen was fat....

Here he is competing at Novice BD Champs ..... I am sure if he was fat he would have struggled a bit.

He looks lovely! Tell her to f*ck off and mind her own business... either that or tap her head and say "is there a brain in there?".
