Nasty comments...is he too fat?

He's big and solid, but he doesn't look fat at all. I noticed though, you said that her children have BSJA ponies...does that mean she doesn't actually have a horse of her own? Perhaps deep down, she is jealous that she spends all her time and effort (and money) on the children's ponies, and has no space left for a nice horse of her own.

where do people get off being so downright rude??? I would be shocked and appalled if anyone made such comments about my mare, especially if it were whilst she was being viewed for a potential loan. Your boy looks lovely and is definately not overweight! I cannot believe how rude some people can be.

I have the same battles with my YO who thinks my horse is over weight.
He looked rounded, no real difference to your boy (mine is KWPN).
He was verging on fat end of last summer, but going into winter i wasnt too concerned.
Now hes lost this weight and you can see his ribs but without looking unhealthy (looks more eventing fit now than anything).
It does make me mad when ppl who have NO IDEA spout on about horses weight, when your boy obviously looks healthy.
He has a deep girth, which to the untrained eye. could be mistaken for fat but still...

He looks fine!!

Don't worry about the pikey horse comments, i get them with Blue, only they mostly come from me

Oh for goodness sake. Please, please ignore stupid negative idiots like this girl.

Your horse looks like a great character and I am sure he gives you so much fun.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. He is gorgeous and looks fit and well not Fat. Your feeding seems spot on for his type, plenty of fibre to keep him satisfied and his gut healthy.

Take no notice, some people are just jealous and unfortunatley this is shown in very negative comments about what they don't have.

I have to agree he is a fat, ugly pikey pony...........I should know, I have a fat, ugly pikey pony too!!! (according to some peeps anyway).

Awwwh he's adorable, really gorgeous and not at all fat in fact he looks just right for his build. As for the "Pikey Horse" comment I personally prefer to call my two 'Tinker's Ponies".

Pity you could teach your boy to stand on her foot next time she comes near him.

if she thinks his fat look at this he is my friends daughters cob and she does every thing with him and the vet said he is in good health

he is a 56in girth

He looks positively trim in his second picture.

It's very odd that some people can't comprehend that not everybody wants a thoroughbred/arab - however good looking they are.

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments (and pics!) It really does mean a lot, and has probably given me the confidence to stand up for myself next time I'm on the receiving end!!

Thanks again

He is fab not fat. If you are ever in dounbt go on the ILPH website and download thier weight scoring info. Its difficult to tell from photos and without getting 'hands on, but he deffo does not look obese to me. As a 'pikey pony' owner myself we have to stand up againt predjudice against cobs and colours.

Ooooo he is just yummy!

Why oh why do people think that they have the right to comment like that about people's horses??

I personally would be very proud of him, he is just lovely.

Perhaps she may be better qualified to comment on his condition once she actually appreciates what she should be assessing.

I think he's lovely - and looks in wonderful nick. Anyone would be proud to have a horse like that in their stable!

You get people at every yard who make rude comments about everyone else's horses and only seem to like their own. Best to just ignore them.

Looks fine to me too

Ignore the old boot, everyone likes different types of horses and you obviously adore you're lad so who gives a frig what anyone else thinks?

Personaly,I would be tempted to give her a taste fo her own...find and point out every tiny fault with her horse(s)
