Re: Do I stand a hope in hell of selling an in-foal mare right now?

I think you have a good chance of selling your mare that is in foal, as long as you dont care who buys her or what happens to the poor unfortunate foal. I think even giving them away would be preferable than trying to gain a bob or two.

Nope this is the thread, and yes its still judgemental and nasty, shes not started on dd yet
Hey Babydoll, if you think thats nasty, take a look at the vitiolic posts I have had over the last 24 hours.

Not been online in a while but jeez! between old threads being brought up and 'new' posters being previous posters...

This forum is boggling my brain tonight :o

I'm obviously really bad at noticing old posters coming back under new names. It would be really handy if anyone doing that could PM me with their old and new username (I wont button push - promise) so that I'm not confuzzled all the time.

Thank you. :D

What I find amazing is the fact that mostly no one knows whthey are REALLY talking to. Any given user name could belong to a one
pony owner, or, to a highly experienced professional, or even to a well known top level rider.
Some posters, in there excitement to join in the bun fight, with little or no equine experience end up looking very silly and are the source of much amusement in some circles. If only they knew who they were trying to put down, often resorting to personal insults when they have little else to say, they would be mortified. I find it quite hilarious.

Yes people being mean to others when they are struggling isn't nice , but on the other hand there are the offendergasmers who wet their pants at getting offended at the most stupid things, and then get the second coming by running off to the fat controller, love winding them up, it's like fishing in a barrel, so not all bad on here ;)

Gutted that I missed all this fun!

Have a suggestion for gv though. How about your next username being "boomerang"
. I look forward to your 5th coming ...

I think being on the forum is a good lesson in life. I've had some cracking advice here, my latest thread on schooling my young horse is a perfect example of what's great about forums. But you do have to be choosy about what advice you follow.

It's also up to you how much you join on the bun fight. I usually feel I have to say something about lack of evidence when people are pushing expensive nutritional "supplements" or alternative medicine, but boy can you get a kicking for that.

It's very difficult because you can get a form of group think in forums where anyone who disagrees with a certain idea gets chased away and so that idea gets very ingrained and becomes accepted truth. The lesson here is that just because someone defends something aggressively it doesn't make it true.

Also some people can't be helped. I've had too many conversations along the lines of:

Me: "there's no evidence",
Other: "but my third cousin Eric had a horse and tried this and said there was a miraculous change"
Me: "that's an anecdote is there any evidence?"
Self appointed expert: "I am hugely offended that you should doubt the validity of this approach. I have been doing it for years and have many anecdotes and also there's a 10 week course that practitioners do to make them experts",
Me: gives up and gets a nice cup of tea.

Talking of which. Hear the kettle boiling. . . .
