Nasty thread

I would say ignore... though I always reply and try to stick up for myself :p less hassle if you just ignore it. But if you want to reply, go for it :D

If I find a thread interesting, and I have an opinion on something then I will answer it with my honest opinion! If not, I won't bother even read it!

Depends what you mean by nasty though - do you mean personally nasty?! Or do you just mean a thread that has caused a heated debate? If you mean personally nasty then I would probably give one short anwer and then ignore it.

Think it would depend, if everyone was quoting/ aiming their comments at me, I'd reply. If not, it would depend on how strongly I felt on the subject.

Sometimes the tone of a post can be lost or misconstrued which can lead to defensive posts, if you think your post has been misunderstood i think its better to say rather than let it misrepresent what you tried to say.
There will always be posters who just like to come onto a thread to try to twist words, belittle, berate, and insult other posters to try to appear superior, when really theyre doing themselves no favours, push user ignore if they really bug you or report to fc if you theink it breaches T&C'S.
Sometimes it is what it is, a troll post .

Who is it being nasty about? If it's a personal attack on someone, and I think it's unfair, I'll go in to say so to give them a bit of moral support.

If it's just a troll writing something nasty just to cause upset, I'd probably report it. People get called a "button pusher" for doing that, as if that's an insult  but imo that's what the report facility's for, to control any real nastiness, abusive or spam posts.

If it's aimed at you, I advocate walking away and going and playing with a pony for a bit. Nothing quite like it for putting the world into perspective :)

Sometimes it could be better to just ignore a nasty thread and let it drop off the page. If people keep responding (even just to say it's nasty!) then it keeps coming back to the top which is probably what the OP wants.

People who bully via chatboards are usually cowards.

I know the thread you are talking about. Have you tried talking to her about things? Maybe if the two of you sat down together and spoke about what happened and how you both feel, you might be able to work things out?

Im not rude in real life, and I won't be rude online. However, I will reiterate where I was coming from if I feel it was miaunderstood, and I tend to try and see both sides of the page. I will not be dragged into silly arguments or throw insults around, problems do not get solved like that.

Sound like a right misery don't I? Lol!

It's not a nasty thread!!!! And this one is just attention seeking, why don't the two of you just talk like adults?? I know there are two sides to every story but just talk about it, if it can be resolved good, if not just both agree to disagree and move on! I know you are both young but just no point making digs at each other on a forum!

This isn't attention seeking, quite clearly just asking for advice. If I had somebody saying horrible things and lies about me on a forum who I hadn't spoke to in a long time then its safe to say I would be saying a lot worse than HKM has said.

Would I be right in thinking you ARE HKM by any chance? :D

HKM is clearly a new member. This post is asking advice, it is NOT attention seeking, there was no mention of the other thread. If I came onto a forum and found someone slating me when I knew it was not the whole truth, then I would be more vocal than HKM. I think HKM is showing extreme patience and maturity by reacting the way she is.
