Nathaniel underwood saddle fitter

Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole! Talks a very convincing talk if you are not the most knowledgeable person about saddle fitting. Quite naughty- have heard of some very dodgy things about him, and have experienced it first hand (at our expense).
 
6 months ago yes and yes and it has made a notable difference to horses way of going confirmed by others and my way of sitting so no complaints here.
 
Yes and yes. Firstly many years ago when he still had Wychanger Barton, was impressed then as he didn't try to persuade me into a new saddle. More recently he yet again didn't try to push me towards a new saddle, tried to work with what I already had, but I actually had some money for a saddle, and the secondhand one he supplied made a massive different to my horse straight away, and it's comfortable and fits me too. I have used other saddlers, but no one has given me the common sense and explanation, and comfortable horse, that Nathaniel has, so I wouldn't use anyone else.
 
Very very good IMO, wouldn't use anyone else having been on the receiving end of some very dodgy saddle fitters.
 
Yes and yes. Used him when he was at wychanger. Funny shaped pony and growing rider, but they had a perfect saddle for both.

I have heard v. good things about him since, apparently he has had offers from America, they want him to fit saddles out there!
 
Yes another recomendation from me. My friends horses were hard to fit and she spent a fortune trying to find the right saddle (with other saddle fitters) in the end she took them to Nathaniel and he did an amazing job. I used him for my youngster and again really pleased. I also know that if some saddle fitters can't fit a horse or pony due to shape or problems they refer them to Nathaniel. :)

Does anyone know what he charges for a call out? I was going to ring him today but would be interesting to know what he charges.

I have to agree with this, although not my first hand experience but that of a friend. She found him very arrogant and several horses on her yard had problems after his 'fitting'. One was suggested to have a double thickness poly pad under a new saddle- so the saddle could be fitted 'to what the horse was going to be' (shapewise). NU obviously had a crystal ball!

General consensus on her yard was that he likes to talk himself up and he made several errors, none would use him again after several horses were left unhappy.
 
i have used him and have one of his saddles and im not sure about him my mare is flat on her back and went to him as a last resort but she is bucking in his saddle, it tips me forward and she wont jump properly, shes not free in her shoulder, went back to him 6 weeks ago but its doing the same thing again i personally would say the ideals are more comfy my friend who also has one of his saddles loves it but she rode in mine and said it was horrible so im undecided at the mo, if anyone knows anyone else to try let me know
