wasn't there a club like the kennel club set up for cross breeds?
and people could register there litters etc??

does any one know what it's called?

thanks

why would anyone want to ? .......... the sole reason for the Kennel Club register is so that the pedigree of a dog can be recorded accurately going back up to 10 generations in many cases together with all the relevant health details from each mating plus their successes either in the working or showing world. This is so that when planning a mating you are able to use this information to try and achieve the 'type' you are after within a specific breed and avoid any health pitfalls i.e any lines which carry high hip scores etc.

As cross breeds do not breed true and have no traceable parantage apart from the first or maybe second generation plus have no health testing done and are not shown or generally speaking worked ( apart maybe from some gundog crosses such as SpringerxCocker) then a register would have no real purpose. Any keen breeder of crosses such as those that produced the Plummer or Patterdale terriers would keep their own records so that they are able to breed in the same way as most reputable 'pedigree' breeders but because of the difficulties in breeding a line which reproduces to 'type' then the KC would not be able to accept such dogs for many many generations - it CAN be done - a new breed has just beeen accepted onto the register - 'the Eurasier' which was originally a cross between a Chow x samoyed x Keeshond

There is an 'alternative' registration club but to be honest their 'pedigrees; are simply not worth the paper they are written on - you can make up any old pedigree and they will write it down -no checking is made and none of the additional information is recorded. You may as well save your money and write down your own 'pedigree' on a scrap of paper !!!.

I didn't ask for an opinion just the name of the club

I'm afraid when asking this type of question in a forum you are going to get peoples opinions whether you like it or not!!!

Sorry, but never heard of such a club.

Ironic really as one could say exactly the same for crossbreeds IF there was a society or registry who kept track of all breedings.......

OK - no opinion - just the facts - there is no such register for crossbreeds or mongrels.

there is a cross breed and mongrel club but this does not hold a register ( for all the reasons outlined previously
