not a denman fan myself would take kuato star to beat him anyday was asked to complie my favourite all time top 10 NH horses at the moment no 1 is Monksfield closely followed by Istabraq
sea pigeon, night nurse ,flakey dove and wayward lad what a line up have spent many happy hours watching them all oooohhh this is bringing back too many memories all of them enjoyable but may cause an overload!!!!!!!!
It has to be my own "Mariner's Lad" who I raced at the late 80s and early 90, he won over hurdles and fences, but then again, he was my baby!
Other than that, Red Rum for his sheer determination, he wasn't much good over 3 miles though. Well done Ginger!
Arkles was another good un!
Yes he was out of Julio Mariner JM07 out of Sorbelle. I lost him due to a mistake at a certain hospital in 1993, I have never recovered him it.
Photos attached of him going over the last fence at Southwell winning by ten lengths and me hacking out a few days later.
Joe's Edge (national favourite in 2007 and won at the cheltnham festival and I think won the scottish grand national). This may have alot (everything) to do with the fact that he is currently one of my liveries and I am retraining him for dressage which he has taken to exceptionally well. Also he just an all round lovely horse with one of the best tempraments I have come across - he can be handled by kids. Really not what I was expecting from a horse that spent at least 6 years on the track .
Present day, I'm rather a Kauto fan, although Mum is very much in the Denman camp and has a huge, limited edition print of him on the wall in our living room
Currently Kauto Star. I see nothing apart from (heaven forbid) injury to stop him winning another King George. Also like Katchit but fear we have seen the best he has to offer already. I think he could have a nice career in the show ring though when his racing days are done.
Dawn Run - versatile, brave and beautiful, still the only horse to have completed the Champion Hurdle/Cheltenham Gold Cup double. So tragic when she was killed.
