Does anyone on here have a native/hanovarian cross.Im covering my cob mare with a cob/hanovarian stallion.In the hope to produce myself an allrounder and something to eventually show under saddle.Pics would be good too..
 
I have an amazing welsh cob x hannovarian. she's out of a lovely welsh mare and her sire is a very old hanovarian stallion called oddesseus, i'm not sure when he passed away but my mare is 28 this year ! ive had her since she was 3 and have had so much fun and success with her, i started off showing her in local shows and she wiped the floor with all the showing classes from riding horse to working hunter, i then went on to compete in non affiliated x country tackling up to BHS novice size courses. she's only 15.2 but has been an amazing jumping mare regularly jumping 3'9/4'. i would certainly recommend the cross and would love to have had another of the same cross. sorry but cant work out how to put photos on otherwise would happily send pickies,

she's certainly been a horse of a lifetime, i have her 20 year old son also, unfortunately he grew a little bigger at 16.3 ! but dont regret either horse, just wish i could find another to match her

whizz105,i really like your foal its a cracker!!.i imagine your very pleased.I was speaking to a friend of mine today who pointed out that native/hanovarian crosses are becoming very popular crosses and seem to work well..
 
I did the Native x Holstein cross but the sire did have Hanni in him. The mare was a coloured Wlesh D x Cob and sire Holstein SJer.....result was better than I could have asked for and he was a 1st Premium Yearling in the SJing section at the Futurity. He is now in a home where he will be produced as a JRN/Jumper and is so far exceeding all expectations as they have yet to find a field with a fence high enough to keep him in!
 
Why are you using a cob x Hanoverian when a TB or WB stallion would probably give more chance of the type of offspring it sounds like you want?

How is your mare bred?
 
I really like your coloured eventrider.i saw your welsh cross he's super..my mare has no breeding she's a native type she was shown ridden previous to her injury.Im crossing her with a cob/hanovarian in the hope to produce a show cob type.I did consider using tb but decided against it.Foal will be for keeps and show eventually..

Mum is 16.2 was sold to OH as an Irish cob but we think she is more likely a clydesdale x, dad was a coloured Hanovarian.
He is a lovely chap a real nice allrounder, and he also loves hunting. He is 17hh

He is the first of 4 we have out of the dam,
We have put her to a rhinelander which has produced a really nice boy who is finer than his half brother with more movement,
Then a 3/4 TB 1/4 Cob which has produced a cracking hunter type, who is already 16.2 and not even 2 yet.
Then last year she went to a 7/8th TB and we have a a really good filly with very impressive movement.

CC - yes Saffy is another example of Welsh D x WB but Max especially was special as I bred him with the aim of producing a WH and he has really gone on to be 100 x that. I would tend towards using a Holstein though rather than Hanni on a cob mare as the Holst will lighten it up somewhat.
