So my mate has a connie who is currently sitting in a field in Ireland being bullied and not doing much. She has asked me if i would like to loan her for awhile as i'm currently horseless. Thing is i've never had a native before. She's living out, unrugged and unclipped. She's barefoot but has been shod before. I'm awaiting to hear what/if she's being fed.
I'm thinking of keeping her out 24/7 and barefoot but other than that not really sure what i may be getting myself into!
My thoughts are no hard feed (i very much doubt she'll be working hard enough to need it, happy hacker!), hay in winter, no rugs, you know keep things simple.
She'll be coming over in the new year so i have plenty of time to prep before she arrives!

Definately GO FOR IT :D natives are awesome great characters and generally laid back attitudes they turn their hoof to anything... I breed fells and compete at endurance and showing .... My ponies are fed alfa a in winter with sugarbeet and hi fi lite in summer with sugar beet just to get their supplements down them ... All are kept out all year with no rugs :D
