natrual horsemanship!

But it sounds like she has been at the yard for some time and not had a veterinary check or had tack on that fits! You cannot start to make improvements until such crucial things are sorted, that is why people are saying that, it isn't a pointless reason at all!

Poor mare :(.

she has been at our yard a while but with her old owners! who gave up on her!

i cant help what has already happend to her

this is not a riding school!

Firstly, I never said it was. Secondly no-one is accusing you of being inexperienced because 'you've had a run in with a not so good horse'. People are merely suggesting you get some help from someone more experienced than you because while you do come across as very inexperienced in all your posts, the main thing is you don't know how to deal with this horse. If you are sure the tack doesn't fit why is it being used, get it sorted or don't use it, would be my suggestion.
When people don't know now to deal with something the best thing to do is seek help on the ground from someone who IS experienced. People suggesting that you seek experienced help are not being pointless or insulting you.

..... not accuse me of being inexperienced just because we've had a run in with a not so good horse.

Sorry, I wasn't accusing you of being inexperienced - however my concern is that you are (have had a gander at other threads). But of course it's great that you want to learn, and help this horse at the same time.

It's also great that as this horse has (presumably) been sold to you, you will have carte blanch to get to the route of any issues.

There has been some good advice given, so take time to take on board some of that advice.

I think in summary
1) vet
2) instructor/behaviouralist - natural horsemanship or otherwise who can advise you on doing appropriate and helpful groundwork before riding depending on point 1 and help to get her working happier.
3) saddler if appropriate.

This totally! And any good trainer will tell you this

which ive already said i will

So shouldn't this have been the VERY first thing you did? No amount of natural horsemanship or regular training is going to help if this poor horse has had dreadful fitting tack. Saying if she doesn't have tack on then she should behave is ridiculous - she's more than likely got a sore back and mouth due to the crappy tack... Get her back and teeth checked and get a saddler out and buy a bit that fits immediately! And IMO you should stop calling her naughty, this horse does not sound naughty - she sounds like she's been looked after and ridden badly.

OK, I'm a "natural horsemanship" person to my core (not Parelli I hasten to add, but a wider approach!). If a horse is showing dangerous behaviour I'd say that it's not being naughty or doing anything just to piss people off - it's just a horse being a horse.
Any decent NH person would check physical issues - back, teeth and tack. Then they'd say that the horse should be dealt with by an experienced and sympathetic trainer. Honestly Op, from what you have posted you don't have that experience.
I'm just hoping you're making a daft attempt to wind people up to be honest...

honest to god guys thankyou so much! your rude manners eurged me to take a look at her tack today, her bit was on upside down and backwards!!! I trusted somebody when they told me her bridle was all fitted correctly and didn't think about it afterwards which was a damn stupid thing! she seemed so much happier in it she still needs a new saddle as its really too big but we've made a break through. by the way shes not being dangerous I haven't ever said that about her as I dont believe she is. We practised again today in the field her tricks where she really enjoyed it and came cantering towards me! Her feet need doing when our farrier gets back from holiday so hopefully she'll be even better after that :) no more moaning about how I didnt notice please, I know it was a stupid move I dont need everyone on the internet telling me that too. I've already punised myself enough

I can only hope this is a troll thread, but I fear it isn't..

How old is this unfortunate mare? If she's an older mare then she won't change over night, if at all.

If she's younger I'd suggest sending her to a pro to be re-started properly. Lunging, shaking lead ropes and poking with carrot sticks is not the way to teach a horse to respond to the ridden aids or build it's confidence.

Why are you still working her in a saddle that don't fit? You say you want to do some good with this horse but you don't respect her enough to get decent tack? You're setting the horse and your self up for failure and injury.

oh my god as i said time and time again! im not working her in a saddle!!! shes only a youngster. Dont panic she hasn't been in this bit for long - I'm not hoping for her to respond to ridden aids.

:( I want people to lay off my horses!

Honestly, no-one is having a go at your horses. If you come on here and ask for opinions then that's what you'll get. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people on here but everyone will tend to deal with basics (tack, possible pain issues etc) first.
I'm not clear about what you are actually doing with this horse - you say that she is not being ridden in the saddle that doesn't fit her, but then you say you have sorted the bridle out. - is she being ridden bareback? And she isn't dangerous but does handstands? I agree with those who say that re-starting is the best way forward. And she will certainly need a saddle that fits - it's incredibly easy to wreck a horse's back.

No-one's getting at your horses. But people are concerned about your mare's wellbeing.

The advice on here tends to be direct (sometimes a little blunt) but it's often very good advice. You may not like it, but I'm afraid what people are saying to you on this thread is only the truth.

shes not being ridden at the moment. for exercise she is being lnged in her bridle, which now fits! so yes we are restarting her
