Hi all

I'm wondering whether anyone uses / could recommend a natural flee and or worm treatment for dogs? I have a 3.5 year old lab bitch, to date I've always used the two-in-one treatment that the vet prescribes, not even sure what it's called to be honest (advocate?). However, of late I'm starting to think much more about what I put into my girls body, hence I'm wondering if there any natural alternatives that work well?

I use diatomaceous earth (DE) on my chickens and I heard that it can also be used on dogs, does anyone have any thoughts on this option?

Thanks
Lou

Felt exactly the same over a year ago, dogs had itchy bald bleeding spots on them, vet hadn't got a clue so stopped flea treatment as we just don't get them, stopped chemical wormers now we use this instead

http://www.folkloreproducts.co.uk/

click on dogs then anti-parasitic tincture

I also give them coconut oil (raw virgin not refined) in their diets no itchy bald spots, dogs have never been better!

Hi Cremedemonthe, thanks so much for your response, have checked the link out and that looks like it could be a good option. And amazing value too, compared to what the vets charge me! I hear you re the fleas, Im yet to find any sign of fleas on my girl, I often wonder whether to keep treating as a precaution or knock it on the head...

The wormer you recommend sounds much simpler than the DE. DE has to be fed consecutively for 30 days where as the stuff you use in just 2 consecutive days per month, much easier!

I did research the DE before I opted for the folklore stuff instead, I have no experience of using it but it does generally get good reviews and I would be interested to hear of anyone using it, Oz
Having spent the evening researching I'm thinking DE for flees (works wonders dealing with mites on the chickens) and the folklore stuff you kindly recommended for worms

Sounds good to me, I had chickens many years ago and didn't know about DE or holistic/herbal wormers then and used chemical wormers instead, wish I had known though!
