Natural Sheath cleaner please

I have always had mares but now I have a 4yr old gelding who has been with me for a couple of months now. I have noticed he has a very smelly sheath and it's all sticky and gunky. I know you can buy some sheath cleaner but wondered if anyone has any home made herbal wash recipes for this sort of thing? Also is it a youngster thing or will he always have it? Its not infected or anything like that - just a bit smeggy if you know what I mean!!

Natural live yoghurt (left a room temperature to make it live again). Apply to inside - use lots (I use cotton woo to applyl). No need to rinse.

I used to use camomile tea for my gelding who loved having his sheath cleaning...

My gelding, too, had a bit of a smelly one so I used a sheath cleaner, but have been advised by vets not to clean very often, maybe one every 6/8 months.

If I don't clean it weekly then he gets "smeg" down the inside of his hind legs from where he lays down.
