QR - if my horse needs a smack he'll get it, no messing. I would never set about him with a whip or beat him though. He knows the boundaries & very rarely crosses them - on the days he does try his luck he's very quickly reminded where he is & who he's with!
My horse is a hoof scraper - I've found that growling at him works the best & he'll stop & look at me as if butter wouldn't melt! We always ignore the door kickers.
I have sought proessional help for my horse (a big WB x incidentally!
) - it's not that he's naughty just that he has alot of temper & energy in the school & that energy needs directing into his work. He's a big lad and I have wondered if I'm over-horsed but I could hack that horse down the M1 & he wouldn't bat an eyelid. He's not unmanageable I just need direction on how to get the best out of him in the school - we have our off days like anyone else!
