I was worming the animals today as had got worming tablets from the vets last week. Socks the black cat was fine, managed to get the two halves of the tablet down first time. Poppy the puppy I gave the last of her puppy syringe of Panacur to and she was really good, didn't wiggle at all.
However Katie the senior cat was an absolute witch, she spat it out about 4 or 5 times, and the last time she bit my finger just at the side of my nail which is now throbbing away and severely inhibiting my typing (though an nice big G&T is taking the edge of the pain!!)
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the little blowpipe thingies that the vet uses to give tablets, as I still need to worm this dratted cat!!

Put the tablets in a softened piece of cheese. We have one that is just the same, put half tablet at once in piece of cheese and roll it round so it covers all of it. Cons mine every time! Worth a try
 
Mushed up in tuna used to work for both of them, then they seemed to get wise to it. For a 10 lb cat she is a delicate eater taking little tiny bites of anything, but worth a try definitely. At least it will safeguard my pinkies from further assult.

Just tried the cheese trick. Ate the teaser bit with no tablet straight away, but would only lick the bit with tablet in. She's no doser our Katie.
Any other tips??

titters!! well mine's bad too, I wrap her really well with towel, keel down on the floor and put her between my legs so she can't get her sharpies out! prise her mouth open and poke the tablet in at the back of the tounge....close mouth rub neck.... hey presto... Mine is 13 years old and i still do this every 3 months ever since she was tiny kitten!

My cat had allgeric recation to it hence have to use tablets! (drat!)
 
I have a Vice like grip....so never have problems

they normally need their breath quicker than the need to refuse the tablet

One of the nurses at work...normally pops the tablet down the throat...then sqirts water down with syringe to lubricate the mouth and the cats first reaction is normally to swallow once the water hits the mouth...hence the tablet goes down with it

The towel as suggested is a good way to restrain...then u wont get bitten and scratched together

U can buy pill poppers from your vets.
There are other methods of worming..i.e spoton or injection...but they dont seem to cover all worms...thats why the tablets are usually the best...as they do one dose of everything....unless there is aything new out at the moment.
 
Pill popper - that sounds like the jobbie I need.

The wrapping in towel sounds good, but it was her teeth rather than claws that did the damage on this occasion, so prob wouldn't get me any further.
