Naughty pony

  How rude. Helpful suggestions were not requested. You should have said...

"Ooh bad ponio, no carrots in his tea tonight, hehehe, lol". :D

im not saying thats rude, infact thats probably the nicest thing ive ever seen NP post
i was reffering to when they commented on "Typical pony" and how 'alot of ponies on here seem to have off days, or is it just ignorant owners? ;) '

oh good grief..God help you young un, when you grow up and get out in the real world...

is it half term already?

hahaaaaa :)

must say have read much more blunt messages from np that havent been jumped on like this!! Cant see what all the fuss is about myself!!!!

but hey ;)

Good lord, what's all the hubub, bub? NP made a perfectly valid observation . If I had made this post I'd have been glad that someone pointed it out... So was it the comment about having the saddle checked, or asking what a typical pony is that's supposedly so rude??

I have only fallen off my boy once in 9 yrs, absolutely my fault. Yesterday nearly made it twice.

I haven't ridden him much lately so took him in the arena for a toddle. Had done lots of walk and a little trot and back to walk. I leant forward, scratched his neck to tell him what a good boy he was being when he did a huge buck, for no reason I was aware of. I ended up with my face on his neck and I was hanging over the front end. I thought that's it, I'm off. He obviously felt guilty as he did a little rear and put me back in the saddle!!! Bless him!

Jane

So Jane, what are you going to do? Try again and see what he does or get saddle checked before you ride again? I personally would try again and if did it would get off immediately. Not bad advice from NP.....as for the rest of this thread, her/his behaviour all over this forum hasn't gone un-noticed and is not appreciated by many. Too much aggro really :(

I think the aggro is on the part of others, not np! She's simply making valid, honest -albeit sometimes blunt!- observations; the aggro only comes when people insist on being offended by it. Usually because the comments hit a little too close to home, I'd imagine!

It wasn't the comment about saddle checking that ignited this small debate, I believe it annoyed someone about the sarcastic typical pony comment?? As previously said, good advice but un-necessary comments just get so tedious. I agreed NP seems to cause a lot of fuss on here as I have seen some truely unpleasant and un-necessary comments flood from her keyboard lately.

Any how, any response from OP?

TBS you'll be glad to hear that i wont be on now until at least sunday as i have serious welfare issues to see to at several markets/sales tmro, fri and sat.

so do try to have a nice weekend
:D :D

Can someone please shut this post down - it is getting bloody rediculous and really quite childish on both sides.

As for the original post - yes very naughty and very typical pony - cheeky chap!

No, I would not rush out and get his back checked, saddle refitted nor call the vet - we all seem to be in far too much of a rush to get shot of our hard earned cash.

However, if this behaviour carried on then yes - by all means get everyone out to sort out the little hairy monster.....

Now, children - please can we all try to get on? It can be very difficult to get true feelings across via email or forum and all sorts of things can be read into a message that is not face to face and you cannot see facial expressions to back up the words. Also, some of us are rather pushed sometimes and cut our word counts down to the bare minimum and this in itself can take away the twinkly twinkly fairy I love you feelings......

Now OP - don't go cuddling that pony anymore!

As expected

Glad someone else has noticed too

Here here

However as the OP seems to want to hear it: Oooh what a naughty little pony, isn't it cute when they do things like that.

Bit unnecessary?

While I am all for being careful with saddles and regularly getting them checked, has everyone forgotten that ponies ARE naughty sometimes. My Sec D loves to throw in a buck every now and then on a canter, his saddle fits fine and he has no back pain. He just gets excited and wants to go faster. What the OP is describing is perfectly normal behaviour for many horses. Not every buck/rear/spin/nap has an origin in pain.

I really wish I hadn't posted now. I thought it was amusing, obviously I was wrong. Saddle checked only a few weeks ago. I also do a quick check of his saddle myself everytime I put it on as it has a tendancy to 'bridge'. I' m sorry nativeponies thinks I am an ignorant owner. I think the behaviour is because it is colder, he is a real stodge in hot weather, always keener in winter.

In future I think I shall just read and not post.

Sorry, must disagree!

OP was 'toddle'-ing in the arena, doing a bit of walk and trot. Not out anywhere exciting, cantering in a group etc!

Bucking just when rider leant forwards to scratch withers? Common sense to me says shift in weight triggered buck = check saddle...

:)

ETA - Janah, just seen your last post, wasn't a dig at you or intended to imply you don't check your saddle fits! More that I would be looking at again, recent check or otherwise :)

I don't know anyone on this thread or even recognise any name.

I do not think NP was out of line even slightly in ANY way in her original posts, and I agree totally with her reasoning!!

and as far as having an off day..an awful lot of ponies on here seem to have one..or is it just ignorant owners ;)

Ok, i must be a very ignorant owner. I have 2 ponies, both over 30, a youngster and competition horses, but because mine has a day off, im obviously an ignorant owner! I would call working fine one day, then having a buck the next, then fine again a 'day off', but maybe im surrounded by ignorance!!
