Any ideas? I have a 13.3hh cob dressage pony competing at novice level who is a joy to ride but has issues on the ground. It seems to happen when he is feeling particularly well and will stand up and box at you. There is no reason or warning and as long as I am ready for it can cope. But he seems to know when i am off gaurd and trys it on. Im sure its just him being cheeky but not sure if anyone could give me any ideas. He is worst if hes told off.

What is his past? I am no expert by any means but my first thought that he was taken away from mum to young and was not put in his place. He sounds like he is displaying horse play behaviour , with a human , which most loose :)

Of course I could be wildly out, and maybe could have put it better :)

You could be right there, from what I can make out he was broken in quite young so yes could have been taken away from mum too early. I had him tested for a rig incase this was the case but that came back negative.
Just wondered if there was anything i could use other than a chifney to lead him in as he has such a soft lovely light mouth, I feel it a bit harsh.
