I've just had the wierdest evening up at the horses...
normally I turn the yard lights on, go and open the field gate and they come down when they hear me putting the mucking out kit away. But not tonight... Tom must have seen the lights go on, and was on the yard before I'd got the barrow and fork out... He then proceeded to p!ss about on the yard trying to get into trouble. He went into his stable when I put their haylage in the stables. No sign of Ron yet, so I carried on sorting stuff out. tidying up in the feed shed, and so on. Next thing, Ron comes galloping on down the track, shouting! he must have fallen asleep and not noticed Tom coming in! anyway, he went into his stable and attacked the haylage like it was it's fault!!
Picked out feet, brushed etc, and as usual Ron's door is open and Tom's is shut. When I'd put the feed in I shut Ron's door and it dropped off it's hinge!!!! Queue Dad spending an hour, in the dark, on his knees putting a new hinge on the bottom of the door!! apparently the bottom of the door post is rotten and will need replacing in the summer....
a bit pointless, but if you got this far, please have a big mug of hot chocolate and a slice of extra chocolately (but calorie free) cake!!
